CIBC FirstCaribbean supports the steelpan art form

PRESS RELEASE – The celebration and preservation of Caribbean culture is one of the values of the CIBC FirstCaribbean brand.

The bank recently pledged its support to the annual Panorama Competition which is one of the anticipated events of the St. Lucia Carnival that showcases the musical talents of St. Lucians of varying age groups.

Lucius Alexander received the donation, flanked by two CIBC FirstCaribbean employees, Kendall Joseph and Krystal John, who are avid steel pan players.

Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams noted that, “Pan is synonymous with Caribbean music and culture and CIBC FirstCaribbean is once again happy to support the art form by contributing to the Panorama Championship.”

The National Panorama Championship is scheduled for Friday July 17th at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds and will feature eight steel band orchestras vying for the championship.

Participating bands include: Caribbean Metals Pantime Steel Orchestra, Courts Babanneau Steel Orchestra, Emerald Steel Orchestra,  Harmonites Steel Orchestra, Laborie Steel Orchestra, Pan Ambassadors Steel Orchestra, Pantastic Music Steel Orchestra and Survivors Steel Orchestra.

The event will also include a competition for individual local and regional pannists (Pan Shoot Out), displays by Carnival bands and performances by local Calypsonians and Soca artists.
