CIBC FirstCaribbean has announced the appointment of Ladesa James-Williams to the position of country manager – Southern Eastern Caribbean Islands (Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines).
Formerly the country manager for the bank in St. Kitts & Nevis, Williams began her career in finance in 2001 with her employment at Barclays Bank PLC as a management trainee, first getting her feet wet in both the Retail and Personal Banking Office in Antigua and in the Corporate Banking Office of St. Kitts.
She was instrumental in researching and drafting staff policies in 2002, during the merger of Barclays Bank PLC and CIBC’s operations in the Caribbean that resulted in the formation of FirstCaribbean International Bank. During this period, she also managed a call centre that provided around-the-clock support to customers during this integration phase.
Her career, which spans over a decade, included an assignment as Corporate Manager in Antigua; Relationship Manager in the International Wealth Department in The Bahamas; Senior Corporate Manager in Barbados and Country Manager of St. Kitts and Nevis. Her demonstrated competence in the areas of strategy implementation, asset management, relationship management and leadership leave James-Williams poised to make a substantial impact on the southern eastern Caribbean islands.
Williams is a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she received a double degree in Chemistry and Management, with honours, in 2000. During this academic period, she was awarded both in her second and third year, the Chromspec Ltd. Prize for the best performance in Chemistry and Management.
Williams describes her new assignment as “a challenge which I look forward to with great anticipation and excitement.” She noted: “I look forward to getting to know the employees and our customers in these markets. We have some great employees in the Southern EC Islands who have shown outstanding commitment to customer service and achieving excellence. I look forward to working closely with as we work together to grow our bank and build our partnerships with our clients.”
