‘Choiseul in dire need of help’

The Choiseul/Saltibus Constituency Branch is calling on Parliamentary Representative Lorne Theophilus and Minister of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport Phillip J. Pierre to come to the relief of the elderly, sick, school children and residents of Darban, Saltibus and Balca by effecting urgent and much needed remedial works on the Darban, Saltibus and Balca road network.

“The Government of St. Lucia Ambulance Service has stated categorically that they will not drive into these communities to transport sick persons to hospital as the road is too deplorable for the ambulance to traverse,” a statement issued today said.

“Delivery trucks from the Windward and Leeward Brewery and other wholesalers have also refused to service these communities because of the terrible road conditions. Bus drivers and other motorists have complained that their vehicle’s suspension cannot withstand the condition of the roads any longer.”

The residents of Darban, Saltibus and Balca therefore want to remind Theophilus and his local surrogate Kevin Thomas of their responsibility to the constituents.

“This situation has become a matter of life and death for the sick and others who may fall gravely ill and will be needing the
services of the ambulance. The livelihoods of persons living within these communities are also being impacted negatively by deplorable condition of the road network,” the statement said.

  3. Let it be known that the so called surrogate if I may borrow your words does not depend on any of you for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Also, let it be known that he was not given any job by any Minister. You all should turn around and go clean the mess in your dirty lives instead face booking nonesense. Focus on the issue not launching personal attacks. Stupid people!

  5. @ 'pition'
I don't think the rep ever designated anyone to the post of local surrogate. If we are all speaking out for the betterment of our community I don't see any needs for personal attacks. Sadly not u every individual has the capability of having civil constructive arguments. What does a dead lady (may her soul rest in peace) have to do with the conditions of the daban road?

  6. Pition, you did not have to mention any body's dead wife in you comment. Hope your loved ones are all alive and well. We have to realise that politicians will always be politicians no matter which party you vote for. Let your cries be heard and wait and see how long before you are rescued.

  11. It's amazing how these guys behave once they are elected into power. His local surrogate is simply a square peg in the wrong hole, sometimes I ponder whether the minster felt sorry about the lost of his wife hence the reason why he got the job. The elected minister responds to the people in the community by telling them see his surrogate. This is crazy. The people of the community can clearly recall during the election season seeing the minister in every crack of the community. Whatever happen to "Lime with Lorne". But a man who carry on this way is clearly not looking for a second term in office.

  13. I understand the cries of the daban residents. But we are quick to judge and point fingers. Didn't the previous administration get votes and ignored the cries? Rome was not built in one day!

  14. I see nothing wrong with these roads. We need to be able to dance and wine well during these awesome better days that we are experiencing. A few bus rides on these wonderful roads will ensure that all road users will be expert winers, and champion bubblers. Fiddle and dance while Rome burns. En rouge.

  15. We've heard of deadbeat dads, well this is a deadbeat minister, and the conmunity is in need of a "bopeh" minister to assist with basic necessities. While he is busy suing media workers, community development is at a mere stand still and the youth are neglected. During his campaign, then incumbent was severely criticized for his shortcomings. Sad to say, with regards to the community, we are worse off.
