Nina Compton’s recently-opened restaurant has been named one of the “best new restaurants around the world” in an article posted on Huffington Post.

According to the article, penned by Alyssa Bird for Architectural Design, Compton fell in love with New Orleans during her stint on Top Chef, “so much so that she decided to open her first restaurant there”.

“Compère Lapin, set on the ground floor of the Warehouse District’s Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery, marries the flavors of her native St. Lucia, her experience cooking French and Italian cuisine, and ingredients from the surrounding Gulf area. New York-based design firm Parts and Labor envisioned the industrial scheme,” the article stated.

Compton is also St. Lucia’s culinary ambassador.

  1. Is aspiring and goal oriented people like that we need more in saint Lucia to make this country a better place...I always say u may not hav much to build on, but with the right support from people, ideas, and the basic knowledge or skill that you hav, one day u must reach somewhere far in life with your own business entity....if all them young violent rascals boys wud learn to cook or sew clothes or even know how to make craft, then they never know where they can be in life..most importantly, with all this comes determination and self motivation... Never giving up despite the failures of business... Keep up the good work Chef Nina...would love to visit your restaurant some day...let us all do the best we can in this life to better ourselves...

  2. CONGRATULATIONS CHEF:
Congratulations are in order chef Nina on behalf of your successful venture I like the name (Brother Rabbit) with that said as a young upcoming restaurateur I would like to impart to you some truths about the restaurant business
Every great chef dreams of owning their own restaurant and believe me the successful ones with hard work and lots of financial help do, some in partnership others sole ownership, the ratio of success lies in the thought of being in control allowing for creativity, prestige and success. The successful ones starts out as glamorous as the work put forth to make it so
Any restaurant its longevity depends on the staff who service it, the chef or owner comes last what brings repeated customers is the food, its taste, appearance and price. But most of all it’s the service one gets when dinning in
Believe me without those quality the life of the restaurant business is short lived, this information is from one who has been in the business a long time ago and has been very successful at it.
I would like to encourage you not to change hats now that you have establish a name for yourself, the best way to be successful is to continue overseeing the kitchen where the creativity lies knowing full well the establishment success relies on you, and indeed it does ex exec chef operating in Milwaukee
    Good Luck Chef Nina.
