Updated Statement by Prime Minister Honourable Allen Chastanet on Tropical Storm Harvey:

Good morning Saint Lucia, the latest information from NEMO and the Met Office indicates that Tropical Storm Harvey is expected to intensify over the next two hours. As such, we are anticipating that Offices, commercial and government should remain closed until 1:00 pm.

The 1:00 pm time is conditional to receiving the all clear by 12 noon. I am asking everyone to remain indoors and continue to exercise caution. I am also asking everyone to stay close to your radios for any further updates.

At this time we are anticipating that the airports should be opening up at 10:00 am. I am asking everyone before they go to the airport, to check with SLASPA or to check with your airline.

Again, I thank you very much for your consideration and may God continue to bless Saint Lucia.

  2. Asking everyone to remain indoors should have been clearly communicated from last night, then we keep listening for the all clear today. I really did'nt have to leave my home and spend 10.00 transportation unnecessarily. Perhaps I am too dedicated hmmm ?

  3. Why remain closed until 1 p.m. It should simply be a no show. After receiving the " all clear", this is when individuals should be assessing damages and calling loved ones to see if everyone is alright.

  4. I hope those without data can get the message because it appears that other than online there is no other mechanism to get weather updates.....too bad if you cannot afford Internet.

LIME, Digicel, (We know RSL was killed), Radio 100 all missing in action.
