10 years of educational support for children of CFL employees

PRESS RELEASE – “Education is the foundation for success.” This was the message that echoed during the presentation ceremony to an audience of youthful and eager faces held at the CFL Head Office last Monday.

The students clad in their new school uniforms were proudly accompanied by their parents, all employees of Consolidated Foods Limited.

Ten years ago, in effort to help staff members with back-to-school expenses and recognize the academic excellence of their children, the CFL Scholarships and Grants Programme was created.

As a part of this programme three full-scholarships and five grants are awarded to top performers at the Common Entrance Examination exam on a yearly basis.

To date, eighty-two (82) children have received grants and scholarships through this programme.

In her address to the gathering of scholars and their parents, CFL’s Divisional Head of Human Resource and Training, Mrs. Nickler Velinor- Paul emphasized the importance of parental involvement in the overall development of their children.

She explained, “I would like to urge you parents to continue to provide an environment of love, support and discipline for your children. Their dedication to their studies coupled with your continued involvement is a definite recipe for success.

As a company, CFL is committed to its most valuable resource and will continue to invest in them. We are very proud to play this fundamental role in the academic journey of your children”.

A jubilant, Daune James, 11-year old student of the Leon Hess Comprehensive and daughter of  Elizabeth James, Accountant Super New Dock ,one of this year’s full scholarship recipients expressed her gratitude to CFL.

“This scholarship will certainly go a long way in assisting my parents in getting the essentials I will need for school. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and I will continue to strive for excellence and make CFL and my parents proud,” she said.

This year’s recipients are Stessa Michelle, Faith Edward (St. Joseph’s Convent), Denzel James, Dylan August, Kyle Christopher, Lenroy Lovence (St. Mary’s College), Daune James and Michelen Cox (Leon Hess Comprehensive).

Consolidated Foods Limited wishes to congratulate this year’s scholars as they embark upon this new chapter in their academic lives.
