The Cerebral Palsy Association of St Lucia in keeping with its mission to assist and advocate for the rights of persons with Cerebral Palsy, has restructured its executive to ensure that the objectives and goals of the association are met.
The executive consists of Daria Robinson Ernest- President, Diane Leonce- Vice President, Kezie Stanislaus-Secretary, Crystal Louis- Deputy Secretary, Deseree Desrivieres- Treasurer, Sherma Cenac and Emma Augustin – Public Relations Officers.
In 2014, the executive’s focus is on sourcing specialised equipment for the children affected by the condition. The equipment received will enhance the quality of life for the Individual and will also support the families in providing better care.
The social activities for 2014 offered to all members include:
Respite Day, June 2014: Parents are treated to a day of relaxation whilst children are attended to by volunteers who perform a range of sensory activities
Family Fun Day, October 2014
Quarterly sensory birthday parties
Therapeutic horseback riding: Therapist and volunteers assist in relaxation and postural techniques
The association has also fostered ties with the Special Olympic Committee to introduce Swimming and Aqua Therapy to the members. These new experiences are critical to the nurturing and development of children with the condition.
Along with Corporate Sponsorship, the public is encouraged to support the fundraising efforts of the Cerebral Palsy Association of St Lucia as we work towards increasing interaction and assistance rendered to persons with Cerebral Palsy and their families. Some of our fundraising initiatives are as follows:
Bingo and BBQ Night: Saturday, April 26, 2014
Back in Time Dance: Saturday, May 31, 2014
The association looks forward to a positive response and generous support of activities slated for the first half of 2014. Join us in commemorating World Cerebral Palsy Day on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
