(PRESS RELEASE) — On Friday, September 27, 2019, the Castries Lions presented 11 food hampers to the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) and Help Age St. Lucia, an organization for and of older persons.
A team from the SLBWA and Ms. Helen Charles of Help Age received the hampers on behalf of the visually impaired families and older persons.
Ms. Mc Clean of the SLBWA expressed her appreciation for the kind gesture and noted that it was always a warm feeling when organizations remember the members of the SLBWA. She noted that the SLBWA has a long-standing relationship with the Lions Club of Castries through the Kids In Sight Programme and it is always a pleasure to work with them.
Ms. Charles, a former member of the club, expressed her appreciation and noted that this donation was timely as the International Day for Recognition of Older Persons will be observed in October.
The hampers will be delivered to visually impaired families who are members of the SLBWA and sick and shut-in elderly persons identified by Help Age.
Thanks to the SLBWA and Help Age for allowing us to provide the needed support and to the many Lions who attended the activity. In addition, our appreciation goes to MBC Television for giving us island-wide media coverage.
