



On Friday, July 10, 2015 newly-crowned National Carnival Queen, Yvana David, visited her alma mater, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, where she recognised several outstanding students.
Among those rewarded were:
* Dane Edward and Johnel Eugene for being called to the Windward Islands and West Indies teams
* Nathan Ferrari and Kareem Boyce who won gold and silver, respectively, at the Creole Boxing competition in Martinique
* Janel Mathurin who won the under-16 Netball Player of the Year
* And Ashel Auguste who finished second in the Groovy Soca Monarch schools competition.
A native of Monchy, Gros-Islet, David won four segments – best costume, most outstanding talent, best evening wear and best interview – on her way to capturing the prestigious crown on July 4 at the National Cultural Centre.
She represented Nagico Insurances.
