On Friday, July 10, 2015 newly-crowned National Carnival Queen, Yvana David, visited her alma mater, Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, where she recognised several outstanding students.

Among those rewarded were:

* Dane Edward and Johnel Eugene for being called to the Windward Islands and West Indies teams

* Nathan Ferrari and Kareem Boyce who won gold and silver, respectively, at the Creole Boxing competition in Martinique

* Janel Mathurin who won the under-16 Netball Player of the Year

* And Ashel Auguste who finished second in the Groovy Soca  Monarch schools competition.

A native of Monchy, Gros-Islet, David won four segments – best costume, most outstanding talent, best evening wear and best interview – on her way to capturing the prestigious crown on July 4 at the National Cultural Centre.

She represented Nagico Insurances.
