CARIMAN workers do not want wage increase spread over 3 years

The management of Caribbean Manufacturers Limited (CARIMAN Ltd.) and the National Workers Union (NWU) are continuing discussions aimed at finding a solution to their industrial impasse.

The company has since agreed to the implementation of the industrial package and instead of the 15 percent general wage increase, the management has offered ten percent 10 percent spread over three years.

Considering the present economic climate, the NWU, after consultation with the employees, accepted the 10 percent, but the three-year spread has now become the major problem.

Talks are continuing.

Given the sensitive nature of the company equipment, the NWU has advised that all employees remain away from operating tables and ovens.
