CARICOM meets to discuss public health issues

PRESS RELEASE – Dr. Kenny D. Anthony will be part of a special meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, which will be held today, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, in Trinidad and Tobago.

This meeting has been called to review action being taken regarding the current public health issues, namely Ebola and Chikungunya.

Lead Head of Government for Human Resource Development, Health and HIV/AIDS, Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis and Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago‎, have repeatedly called for such a meeting.

While in Trinidad, CARICOM leaders will also profit the opportunity to seek to arrive at consensus on CARICOM’s candidate for the Commonwealth Secretary General.

Dr. Anthony is expected to be back in Saint Lucia on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, will act as Prime Minister during Dr. Anthony’s absence.
