Caribbean Youth Fest launches for 2013

With recently concluded semi-finals taking place in St. Lucia and St. Vincent, Caribbean Youth Fest launches its 10th Anniversary edition on Tuesday December 10 at the CDF Conference Center.

The Youth Fest features singing performances in various genres. This year Caribbean Youth Fest will include Vincentians for the first time as there will be two contestants each in the teens and 20s categories and one dance group for the dance competition.

Two fashion houses will also be showcasing their models.

Youth Fest bases this event on the Rotary tenets of service above self and charity. In service above self, the organisation commits to using some of its time and resources to assist in the development of the community and in helping the less fortunate, especially the youth. In charity, it is committed to making charitable contributions to the communities and institutions that require special assistance.

In 2013, in collaboration with The Rotary Club of St. Lucia South, the contribution from this year’s event will focus on various projects benefitting senior citizens.

On December 15, the organizers of Youth Fest and the members of The Rotary Club of St. Lucia South will sponsor a luncheon for some 56 elderly individuals residing at the Comfort Bay (senior citizens home in Vieux-Fort).

Caribbean Youth Fest attracts a great number of youth seeking opportunities to showcase their talent. At the auditions that took place in the North and the South of the island over 240 persons registered and competed to qualify for the semi-finals that took place on November in Castries.
