Caribbean Youth Fest 2016 finals set for Sunday


PRESS RELEASE – The Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux-Fort will be pumping with vibes on December 18th, 2016 when St. Lucia’s young talent takes the stage for this year’s Youth Star Competition.

The competition features 10 artists in the Teens category (aged 13 to 19), namely Abigail Martial, Allea Francis, Ashelle Auguste, Dehawn Augustin, Dyllan Stanislaus, Jamal Joseph, Jermica Benti, Stephon Maquis, Sherquil Florence and TJ Philgence, vying for the title of Youth Star 2016.

Contesting the Twenties category (aged 20-29) are Abijah Hippolyte, Brendon Charlery, Johnnel Leo, Kevin Jn. Baptiste, Lyndon Weekes, Michelle Johnny, Khalyle Arrindell, Gavin Prospere, Steffi Ann St. Claire and Robert Renee.

The 2016 Youth Star takes home $5,000 in cash and the winners and the runners-up in each category receive cash prizes and all performers are paid appearance fees.

Youth Fest 2016 will also feature four St. Lucian dance groups in the dance off segment; Genuine Editions, Elite Dancers, South Pack and Fundamentals. Also, look out for the N’Vogue models who will grace the stage with their fabulous talent.

The show culminates with its Family Fete, where several of St. Lucia’s top artistes will perform. Backed up by DYP Band, the likes of Ezra D’Funmachine, Arthur, Mac 11, Isla Man, Dupes, Migos & Mata, Blackboy & Messi and Hotness International are sure to shell down the place.

All children under 12 years attend the show for free and are treated to the Kiddies Section which comprises of bouncing castle, trampoline and face-painting.

For 2016, Youth Fest is incorporating blue as its theme color. Attendees are asked to swag up in blue as there will be prizes for the most creative blue outfits. There will also be plenty of cash and prizes for lucky ticketholders.

As part of their corporate social responsibility, several organizations are supporting the development and showcasing of the young St. Lucian talent by way of sponsorship. Communication giant FLOW, once again, is the title sponsor.
