TRINIDAD EXPRESS – A 15-year-old boy became the country’s latest murder victim after he was shot dead out- side his Morvant apartment on Friday night.

Police said Joel Huggins, a pupil at Success Laventille Secondary School, was not the gunmen’s intended victim but was killed after the shooter’s real target—Huggins’ elder brother —fled the scene and escaped upon spotting the shooters.

Officers said shortly before 10 p.m., Huggins and his brother were liming outside their Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Building Four, Almond Court apartment when a group of men approached, but before they could open fire, Huggins’ brother ran from the scene.

It was at that point, police said, one of the men fired several shots which hit Huggins about the upper body.
