CARIBBEAN: Puerto Rico defaults on bond payment: Moody’s

puerto-rico-flagJAMAICA OBSERVER:

Washington, United States (AFP) — Puerto Rico has missed a bond payment in the first default on commonwealth debt, rating firm Moody’s said Monday.

“Bondholders today did not receive full and timely payment of debt service due August 1 on bonds issued by the Puerto Rico Public Finance Corporation. Moody’s views this event as a default,” said Emily Raimes, vice president at Moody’s Investors Service.

  1. Sign of the times; who would think, and who next? I shudder to think of all the borrowing St. Lucia have been doing, whether it's not a tender trap. Brother, dem millions will one day come back to haunt us, and you can't pay it back on VAT money.
