Calling all VFCSS alumni

(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – “Enter To Learn, Depart To Serve!” these words are uniquely associated with Vieux-Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS). VFCSS is the the third oldest school on the island and the first secondary school built in the south.

In October 2018, VFCSS will be celebrating its 55th anniversary; the school enrolled its first cohort of students in 1963. Since then, VFCSS has experienced a myriad of changes for such a long tenure of existence. To this end, the celebration of the school’s anniversary takes special significance under the theme “Forging ahead with resilience and purpose, VFCSS celebrates 55 years”.

A number of activities have been planned to mark this milestone, the most recent of which was a tree planting exercise which took place on Friday June 8th 2018. During this activity, 55 trees were planted along the banks of the river that runs to the back of the school.

Additionally, the first graduating class of VFCSS will be honoured at the school’s 50th Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday July 3rd, 2018.

The next activity is the formation of an Alumni Association to offer a platform for networking and engagement of VFCSS graduates in the interest of their alma mater. To this end, an initial meeting was convened on Wednesday May 30th, 2018 to begin initial discussion on the execution of this initiative.

The school therefore extends an invitation to all past students to be part of a special meeting on Wednesday June 20th, 2018 from 4pm. The major goal of this meeting is the formation of a VFCSS Alumni Executive which will be guided by the following objectives:

To establish an association of graduates/former students/alumni
To better network with alumni in the interest of VFCSS
To provide the VFCSS alumni community the opportunity to stay involved with VFCSS/their alma mater
To ensure the continued excellence of VFCSS through alumni support and volunteer efforts
To foster a spirit of loyalty to VFCSS and to promote our general welfare
To keep track of VFCSS graduates

  1. Excellent initiative. Long live VFCSS, the best secondary school on the island of St. Lucia!

  2. Wonderful. However, some students live and work in Castries and 4:00pm is a bad time for a meeting
