CAHFT donates school supplies


PRESS RELEASE – The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Texas (CAHFT), in collaboration with The Saint Lucia Foundation of Texas, is delighted to donate two barrels of school supplies to the students of the Soufrière region in the south of the island.

This is CAHFT’s Fourth Annual School Supplies Drive benefiting the future leaders of Saint Lucia.  The barrels were shipped to the Soufrière Public Library in care of Librarian Catherine Prospere who has been a key strategic partner with CAHFT over the past four years.  Last year, roughly forty (40) students benefited from the school supplies.

We are happy to announce that Ms. Prospere has indicated that over double, eighty-five (85) student will benefit from this year’s donation, which includes students in Kindergarten, Infant, Primary and Secondary Schools who live in the communities of Bouton, Fond St. Jacques, Etangs and Soufrière.  The handover of the school supplies will take place at the Library on Friday October 16, 2015 at 10:00am.

The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Texas is a member of The United Nations Council of Organizations.

 Ms. Prospere has the pulse of her community and has been instrumental in assisting CAHFT in identifying the students most in need of assistance as they strive for excellence in their education.  She has shown genuine care and concern for these eager young minds and has endeavored to do whatever she can to assist them, through her partnership with CAHFT and through her own efforts, in their quest to achieve their academic goals.

The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Texas is forever grateful for her assistance in our Annual School Supplies Drives these many years.  She has been extremely gracious and her efforts are very much appreciated.  Thank you, Ms. Prospere.

The barrels contained over 2,300 items including over 400 notebooks and more than 560 No. 2 pencils. Other items in the barrels included pens, pencils, loose leaf paper and pencil sharpeners.  It is again with great joy that CAHFT continue to do their part to assist the future leaders of Saint Lucia achieve their educational goals and objectives by donating these much needed school supplies.

The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Texas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established exclusively to partner with, collaborate, and assist Texas’ Caribbean Organizations to bring awareness to the rich, lush history of the Caribbean Culture and to promote their contributions to the diverse culture in Texas. 

CAHFT works with and assist Texas Caribbean Organizations achieve their goals: business, financial and cultural, objectives through strategic partnership and mutual collaborations, in the spirit of cooperation. The Foundation works with, collaborate and has formed strategic partnerships with organizations throughout the United States and the Caribbean to promote the West Indian culture and the contributions we make to our global community.
