St. Lucians woke up this morning, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 to the sad news of the passing of Jon Odlum, a former parliamentary representative for Castries South and former minister of government.
Odlum was originally a member of the Progressive Labor Party, led by his brother George Odlum, and was the party’s sole successful Parliamentary candidate in 1982.
He was made a Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Human Services and Family Affairs on December 10, 2001.
Odlum served as Minister of Youth, Sports, etc between 1979-1981 and pioneered youth employment and economic empowerment programmes. Under his leadership the Beasejour Youth Guidance Project and the National Youth Development Skills projects were initiated.
Odlum was reported to be St Lucia’s first TV sportscaster with SLTV which preceded HTS. He was also known to be a community development/sports officer and built an extensive network island-wide and so was invited to read news of sports he collected during the course of his work. He was also associated with Wolves Sports Club.

All the good ones seem to be leaving. I do not wish that he RIP because those are the Souls who need to work for the benefit of Mankind, on the higher planes.
