Two injured in Bois d’ Orange accident

Two persons including a motorcyclist were rushed to hospital via ambulance following an accident at the Windjammer gap in Bois d’ Orange, Gros-Islet this morning.

Reports are that at about 8:25 a.m., a black and orange motorcycle (PG988) heading in a southerly direction collided with a green CRV (PD978), which was about to turn into the Windjammer gap.

An eyewitness said the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was bleeding through his mouth and nose.

The driver of the CRV, a female Windjammer hotel employee, appeared to have been unconscious, the eyewitness added. She was apparently heading to work.

“The accident is so serious the man’s helmet caught the wheel of the CRV,” the eyewitness said.

Police sources theorized that the motorcyclist may have been overtaking when it crashed into the CRV.

Scene of the accident.

  2. I am sorry to hear about this accident, I hope both persons make a full recovery, God bless. On this note let me try to encourage all road users i.e. Pedestrians, Drivers and Riders to use our roadways bearing in mind you are not the only person there. Be mindful that your actions can be life changing. The automobile is a beautiful invention, it makes life easier for most but it can be used as a weapon use it with care.

  3. I passed a little after the accident and knew based on the position of biker under the jeep and bike in the middle of the road what happen. IDIOT BIKER doin shate. They believe the road is theirs, they take ridiculous chances. Got no respect for bikers. Filtering all vehicles should stay in their lane, if a bike is a vehicle then follow the traffic ahead of u.

they appear out of unexpected and untimely blind spots,i mean not every blasted second ur eyes in the mirror and when u least expect coming out of a junction there in one pelting on a stretch twice or triple the speed of the ongoing traffic that low u to enter the lane ,i like motorcycles but i will only take the chance on the beach with one

  7. All need to be careful and trust GOd to take care of the rest. Wait, must know your creator to trust him. My prayers with them and their families. People become very - detached from reality when making this comment. Yes people need to obey, how much of the laws do you all obey yourselves? Second, what if that was your child, brother, sister, husband , wife or cousin. Thank God for keeping you safe when you didn't indicate your turns or fail to obey all the traffic signs God

  9. Because of individuals thinking like this is y I went to go into politics or open a church.listen in our country drivers break most of the traffic laws not riders hence they put more persons at risk everyday.I see it on a daily basis on cells calling texting not indicating before turning or switching lanes.pulling up anywhere any time.over taking cut a crossing drinking whiles driving driving under the influence.even putting make up I have seen.person don't make use of thier mirrors.the bikes they speed they go really fast n some can't properly ride or handle the monster.don't blame bikers solely in short not even bus drivers that carry human cargo obeys the law in truth they break it with easy.you have to take in to consideration who or wat cause the accident not just whose in it.eh some say women r better drivers cause when the figure came men r in accident

  12. There seems to be a never ending string of accidents involving motorcycles. Motorcyclists need to understand 4 things:
    1. St. Lucia's roadways are not there personal race track.
    2. You are required to obey the traffic laws just as motor vehicles.
    3. The median lines in the middle of the road is not a third lane for you to traverse and pass other vehicles.
    4. You drive like a maniac, pop wheelies and do stunts on the main road your probably not going to survive the accident even with a helmet.

    • I agree with you up but your third point seems to come from someone who has never ridden a motor bike. Let me clarify.
      1. Motor bikes in hot climates get hot and riding stop start in traffic is an easy way to forgo having children.
      2. Filtering (riding on the line)as it is called is legal an is the whole point of having a bike or scooter but there are guidelines, to it like watching mirrors and driver behavior. Most drivers don't check there mirrors so one must proceed with caution. Also you never filter pass a junction unless traffic is at a complete standstill.
      3. If riders would use their horn like I always did the these kind of accidents wouldn't happen.
