  1. Let me first say that I do not have details foR the above mentioned, but the comments seem to suggest that all that could have been was not to save the touriSt. WiTh that said the people incharge should present a disclamEr and ensure would be climbers that they do so at their own risk given the extreme nature of the climb.

  2. Try petit piton! I did that the other year but not again. Could have had an awful accident.

There was probably nothing anyone could have done but they should use this to consider future incidents.

  3. It is high time that we realise that what ever service we provide in this country must be of an international standard. This will definately save lives and improve the tourism product. The organizers of these tours must have personnel with the requisite medical skills on hand.

  4. Regardless, they have no business conducting tours without someone having knowledge of CPR-First Aid, totally irresponsible. Right...But then that would mean someone would have to know how to read the damn instructions on the defib. machine.

  5. Sad!!! I have never climbed the Majestic Pitons, but if I decided to try one day, then I'd have to work-out for a whole month prior to, cuz it's a tough climb I heard. It's sad when you work hard so you can go on holidays...and then die.

  6. I did it last year. You better be in decent shape before you climb. It looks easy, but it is tough. May his soul rest in peace. Tough time for his family.

  7. I believe that the management of the climb to the piton should put in place measures to
get climbers of the piton quickly in case of a medical emergency or an impending medical emergency. A Cable system to zip climbers off can be installed. I can have multiple uses as well. But emergencies being the primary reason for use.

  8. Every EMT ambulance, every resort who has tour arrangements should have a defibrillator on hand with trained personals could of save a life.Very sad indeed, may his soul rest in peace.
