UPDATE: Man found hanging from tree in Gros Islet

A male was found hanging from a tree at Mongiraud, Gros Islet this afternoon.

He has been identified as Vincent Collymore aka ‘Ras’, originally of Laborie but resided at Reduit, Gros Islet.

St. Lucia News Online (SNO) understands that Collymore was discovered hanging from a tree by a group of children who were playing in the bushes.

Neighbours told SNO that Collymore’s son-in-law was heard arguing with him on Wednesday night, but he didn’t respond.

Collymore and his wife also had an argument yesterday, according to neighbours. Following that argument he left the house and never returned.

A relative told SNO that Collymore was not comfortable with his wife’s decision to accept employment with a ship.

The relative said he was persistent and wanted to prevent her from going.

One neighbour confirmed that Collymore was found hanging with a photo of his family on his chest. Another relative said he also left a note in his daughter’s school book which said, “Daddy loves you… I can’t take it anymore… goodbye.”

The couple had one daughter. He also has another child from a separate union. A cousin claimed that Collymore tried to hang himself about three years ago in his home but was unsuccessful.

This is the second hanging of a male in the Mongiraud area in recent times.

Police are conducting their investigation.

Rambally’s Funeral Parlour removing the body from the scene.

  3. I am not religious; however, in the book of Isaiah 45-7, " I form the light...... and create evil, I the Lord do all these things.KJV.
If he tried God and it didn't work, he should have smoked a joint. I just can't see how these brothers are taking their own lives for pussy sake. Smfh.

  4. When i used 2 work at rex st lucian ras gave us the story of trying 2 hang himself the 1st time unsuccessfully.looks like he succeeded.i dont know but u gotta be very brave 2 do that

  5. All the people talking about "the man knows what he was going though" Shut up!
All of us go through things. Some worst than others. Is that enough to give up on myself, my family, my friends, my community.
What I'm I saying to those out there, that there is an option to give up on life.
When life gets taught, Give up.
Suicide will continue cause a lot of us act like it is Okay.
It is not okay. Do you know what it is like for a child raising up knowing that their parent gave up on them? No you don't.
    It is a selfish act.
Any one who is thinking of taking their life; you are selfish and incapable of Love.

    • John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
We can judge but we must do it righteously. If a brother or sister is walking a crooked road we try to set them straight. Not viciously or pointing fingers but in love. I rather be judged right here on earth than face the wrath of the Father on judgement day.
