The body of the suspected drowning victim at Gros Islet has been recovered, according to Marine Unit Superintendent John Preville.
Preville told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that a vessel was dispatched around 2 p.m. on (Jan.11) following a report of a suspected drowning close to Esperance beach.
Reports are that Alexander Marcellin, 51, alias Zanda of Riviere/Mitant, Monchy was fishing for whelks, when he suddenly disappeared in waters around 12:30 p.m.
His body was reportedly spotted sometime after, but there were some difficulty in retrieving it. However, with the assistance of Gros Islet fishermen and divers, they managed to retrieve it at about 4 p.m.
