BREAKING NEWS: Suspect to be charged for fatal stabbing

Police have confirmed that the suspect in custody for Saturday night’s homicide is expected to be charged and taken to court this morning.

The suspect reportedly stabbed two men who reportedly came to the assistance of a young woman whom he was allegedly beating.

In a press release, police said 25-year-old Danley Leon of Corinth, Gros Islet was stabbed in the upper left chest area during an altercation with a “known individual” while Bevon Charlemagne, a 22-year-old resident of Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, also received stab wounds during that altercation.

Both individuals were transported to Victoria hospital by ambulance. Leon was pronounced dead on arrival whereas Charlemagne was treated and discharged.

Police said it responded to the incident at about 10:30 p.m. It was the island’s first homicide for 2013.

A post mortem examination on Leon’s body done on Monday, January 21, 2013 revealed he died from hemorrhagic shock secondary to a stab wound.

Reports are that Leon was called upon by his girlfriend for assistance in an altercation between a man and a woman.

Leon arrived on the scene with his friend, Charlemagne, to see a woman being allegedly beaten by another man. When they intervened, the man allegedly stabbed them both.
