UPDATE: Homicide victim ‘Kay Lay Lay’ was also shot last year
The dead man has not been identified.
This morning’s homicide victim.

A 46-year-old man who was shot and killed in Bois Patat, Morne Du Don, Castries this morning (April 24) survived a shooting in the same community eight months ago.

Eldon Simon, aka Kay Lay Lay of Bois Patat, Castries was shot about 9:30 this morning.

Police said no one has been arrested in relation to this incident.

“The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is appealing to anyone who has information which can assist with the investigation of this homicide to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at telephone number 456-3770,” a press release stated.

Sources say Simon sustained two 12-guage shot gun rounds to his chest and stomach this morning.

Simon had better luck last year. He was shot during an alleged domestic dispute in Bois Patat, Castries about 6:30 am on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, but survived.

At that time, an eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that Simon was shot as a result of a dispute involving a woman and another man. Simon sustained gunshot wound (s) to the lower part of the body in that incident.

Marvin Gabriel, who was accused of shooting Simon in that incident, surrendered to the Criminal Investigation Department with his attorney in early September 2013 days after police issued a ‘wanted’ press release and photo of Gabriel. He was wanted for attempted murder.

Gabriel was eventually released later in 2013 but re-arrested, along with other men, in January 2014 for other shootings.

Gabriel along with Adrian Sonny, aka Zebbi and Marlon Joseph, aka Tis, were all charged for the attempted murder of Kervin Anatole who was shot in the head on January 19, 2014.

Anatole was shot when a gang of about eight masked gunmen invaded a section of Morne Du Don/Bois Patat.
In addition to this, Gabriel also faced an attempted murder charge for the alleged shooting of Yannick Mathurin of Arundel Hill at New Village, Castries on January 13, 2014. Mathurin was shot in the head.

Gabriel was also charged for a robbery on Tennyson Lionel, which occurred on Jeremie Street on Saturday, January 11, 2014 about 9 p.m.
Gabriel has been arrested in the past for robbery, assault, and has been a suspect in murder investigations, among other offences.

Gabriel, who is no stranger to the law having been arrested in the past for robbery, assault, and a suspect in murder investigations, among other offences, faces an attempted murder charge for the Bois Patat incident.

  8. Its amazing eh the same day you have court with the individual who try to take your life, you're killed on that day, obviously there is a link, his boys out there shot the complainant so that the suspect in prison would be free, the case would be dismissed because the complainant is dead, that is so sad eh and that is not the first time it has happend.

    • If your suspicions are correct and he is involved I'm sure God is watching and justice will be served. We can't run from the hand of God.

I hope you are wrong and this young man is in there thinking about the list of things his name was mentioned for in the article and that he turns a new leaf. There is hope and never too late even for him to turn to God and start doing good even for his worst enemies. One love people; let us make our land a better place.

  12. U live by the gun,u die by the gun no one seem to believe in that saying. We need to raise our kids instead of letting the streets and ghettos do it for us. Being from the ghetto i refuse to allow my kids to be raised in this manner. Alot of these ppl commiting these crimes are wanna be with the excuse that they are from the ghetto. You define who u are and what u become, u decide destiny. Some parents are to be blamed and some tried their best to do the best they can. Like i once said to a friend u can't tell ur kid don't smoke weed if u are sitting there with a joint in ur mouth or get a job if u never worked a day in ur life. We should be our kids role models . Kids need foundation in life to know where to start n this is one thing alot of parents don't give kids. Am a strong believer in love, stability and foundation is all a child needs. All we can do is pray. St.lucia is not the only country with crime and we are quick to blame the government for crime. What else can the do. We have a so called justice system and a prison. More competent training for investigators, where is the money. More vat to break ppl back even more

  16. I think we all have to work together to end all this stupid acts. and I am sorry to say but if the police know the people responsible for those acts, and the courts or the system does not work in keeping them behind bars. take those people out of existence..
