UPDATE: One critical, two in stable condition following Vieux Fort accident

POLICE PR – Officers attached to the Traffic Department of the Vieux Fort Police Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident, which occurred along the St. Jude’s Highway, Vieux Fort about 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014.

Information suggests that an omnibus was travelling along the St. Jude’s Highway in the direction of Vieux Fort, when it veered off the right side of the road and overturned. At the time of the accident, there were two passengers on board the omnibus which was being driven by 20-year-old Herburt Gary of Augier, Vieux Fort.

As a result of the impact, 18-year-old Emelda Mosely, 22-year-old Anderson Walter, and the driver sustained injuries and were transported to St. Jude Hospital.

All three persons were treated and admitted. Gary is said to be in a critical condition whereas the other two passengers are in a stable condition.

The omnibus sustained extensive damage.

Two persons – a male and a female – are feared dead after a small private bus (PK1857) overturned on the St. Jude’s Highway in the Cantonment area just before noon today.

The accident occurred sometime between 11:45 and 12 noon. Three persons were on board the bus.

“The girl is out of the bus and the guy who is trapped is very bloody… The bus overturned in the Cantonment gap,” said an eyewitness.

Another eyewitness alleged that “the driver was speeding and overtook a truck. He then almost hit a minibus but swerved to avoid the collision then his vehicle overturned.”

  2. I have read the above comments each individually and I wonder are we a god fearing people , who believes that when someone's life is in danger or has succumbed to death , all we do is point fingers at them. who are we to be judge and jury. who are we too say it is their fault , why are some of us rejoicing . when we rejoice for someone's demise remember we too will be judged. watch and pray and remember if we can't say something good , then don't say anything at all. some saint lucians are too judgemental of others . stop spreading rumors and being un sensitive to the people who was in this accident. you never know if you may be next . Instead give god your life and thank him for another day of life.

  5. Lol I tend to think that persons wait for SNO to post a story for them to lash out. Its amazing the way some people think and perceive things. Is all this lashing out at each other even necessary? And people read twice as much as you speak; half of you on here didn't read properly. And the sad thing is, majority of those lashing out can barely spell correctly or type standard English. Smh! what a shame. Not every post requires your comment.

  6. This overtaking thing is getting me so sickkkk. Some time ago i was crossing by SLASPA with my little boy...the on-coming driver gave me room to pass.. and so there was a little backup... the other driver behind him not knowing what he stopped for just started overtaking him while i was crossing luckily i just happened to cross cautiously otherwise the man would have killed both me and my son that day... he held a hard brakes. shameless drivers... racing to go where uh... putting innocent persons lives at risk....

  10. Mad Cow you're an idiot. Read before you start blabbing that trap of yours. The article clearly states that it was a private bus. There was no talk od a bus load of people. No need to attack one setbof drivers. Bus drivers, or vieux fort bus drivers, (like you seem to be attacking), are not the only wreckless drivers we have on the roads. Had it been a government vehicle or a company truck, etc you would be singing the same retarded song you,re singing now. That being said, it doesnt matter what vehicle they were on, I think the bigger picture still remains that a young man in his haste to get to his destination lost control of a vehicle and may have killed his girlfriend and himself in the process. The families of those affected by this accident aren't concentrating on the fact that he was driving like a MAd Cow,but by the fact that he might not make it....I pray that all do survive

    • The “Mad Cow” stands by the comment that was made. He is a bus driver (even though private) from V/fort and he was transporting passengers (even though they may not have been paying). And by the way, y’all “M” bus drivers from V/fort, y’all know I am right!
