The teen that went missing over the weekend was found this morning at about 7:00 near his home in Sans Souci, Castries.

Veronica Bonnett, the mother of 18-year-old Romel Bonnett, told St. Lucia New Online (SNO) that her son was discovered in a frail condition and needed medical attention.

She said Romel had not eaten since Sunday, but she was reluctant to provide more information on her son’s discovery.

However, a source told SNO that Romel was found dehydrated and had made contact with a family member prior to being found.

A relative, who wished not to be named, thanked everyone who aided in his discovery: “The family would like to thank all those who supported and would like to thank the media for the input.”

It is believed that Romel went missing sometime between 10 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 and 6 a.m. Monday, July 21.

Veronica had said she last saw Romel on Sunday evening at around 10 p.m. However, she only discovered he was missing on Monday morning.

Romel had left his keys and cellular phone behind. She also claimed that she was unaware of reasons surrounding his disappearance. Veronica had told SNO that Romel blocked relatives from his Facebook page.

Romel wrote examinations last month at the Sir Arthur Community College where he read for a diploma in business management.

A missing person’s report was made with the police on Wednesday.

  1. Hmmm Missing from Sunday 20, 10pm to Monday 21, 6am. Found dehydrated and frail.Seems to me like someone slipped out to do some partying (drinking). Or he could have been abducted by "ALIENS"

  2. I am stunned by the response to what could so easily have been a tragedy ... The office of Health and Human Services is an agency for use by all, regardless of race, age, gender, orientation or religion ... This young man and his family are no doubt grateful for his safe return, but traumatized by the whole incident and need to heal ... He has to come to terms with whatever it is he is dealing with - be it psychological, emotional or psychiatric - for which he will need space and time, just as the family will. This is a private issue and not a public matter ... As for us - were we only trying to help find this young man only to get inside the private lives of this hurting family - or were we doing this because we are compassionate and truly care for our fellow human being? There are things that it would be nice to know but are none of our business - speculation is unnecessary, unseemly and frankly distasteful

  3. Happy that boy was found alive. If someone puts a noticeout for a missing person, I will continue to assist. Family I hope that you resolve your issues as I figure it is a difficult period for you. You do not owe me any explanation. All the best!

  10. Some homes are very broken, even as an adult it affects you...we all needs space, teenagers are more prone to lash out, but mum u owe us more than a thank u, an explanation would be more appropriate

  11. I am honestly disgusted by the nosy ppl saying that the public helped and now the family does not want to disclose his whereabouts.. Has you been at the forefront helping I'm positive you would be informed of the necessary details . Furthermore the family does not owe anybody full disclosure nor hints nor clues as to what transpired . The only important thing is that the youngster was has been found and is alive. As somebody in the earlier comments mentioned the family may not even be at liberty to discuss the details so please reserve your speculations and ignorant comments
