Authorities say they are investigating the death of Yana Auguste, 30, whose semi-nude body was discovered near the Hummingbird Beach in Soufriere on Sunday, July 12, as a homicide.

Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime and Intelligence Milton Desir said this decision was made based on the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and the evidence gathered by investigators.

He revealed that a man is also being questioned by the police in connection with the woman’s death.

The police are trying to obtain any information that may lead to an arrest of the person or persons who might be responsible for the woman’s death.

It is not clear whether the man had any relation with the dead woman.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted later today on Auguste’s body.

Relatives believe that the former waitress was murdered.

  2. Rest in perfect peace Yana. My heart goes out to your family. may they find strength and comfort in the loving arms of Jesus. Rest assured that vengeance belongs to the Lord and the person/persons who committed this horrible crime will one day have to stand before the judgment seat of the most high and give an account of their deeds. I do not know you or your family I feel very heart broken because I know what it means to loose a loved one especially in that way.

  6. People come to St Lucia and leave to easy. People kill and get away with murder to easy. Where is the security for our citizens St Lucia?
Can you enforce capital punishment, St Lucia? Can't you find out who owned the car? Can't you check Yanna's phone records? Where are the brains in the court house? Can you stop sleeping and do something? May Yanna rest in perfect peace.

  7. My fair Helen residents have you tried protesting? This and every other case that falls through the cracks is heartbreaking. Don't let this one die down. Keep bringing it up. Family keep pushing for answers. Write letters to the United Nations, the st Lucia consulate office in NY and wherever else they are. If non responsive keep writing. Write to any and everyone who will lusten. Create a find Yana killer page if indeed someone murdered her. Don't give up. I know what it's like to lose a loved one. RIP Yana. This is indeed a sad story.

    • Not buying it. We don't know that you're in the UK. From the tone of your conversation you sound like someone who is speaking about an actual situation and not a hypothetical one. If you really want to see and say nothing .Then truly keep your mouth closed. Don't come parading round here. And for someone living in UK you rather too familiar with our protection issues palio.

  9. @ YES. if you are serious about what you wrote you know we can find out who you are. Every computer has an IP address and number. It can be tracked. If you used a computer in a cafe then records will indicate what sites were accessed during the time you wrote this comment, it can be linked. Don't say things for saying things. You can tip the police anonymously. A family has lost a daughter, sister, cousin and friend. If you're joking about what you wrote then you have serious issues.
