UPDATE: Officers injured in Dennery crash identified

Two police officers attached to the Dennery Police Station sustained injuries in a motor vehicle accident this morning on the Dennery Highway – shortly after leaving duty.

Senior constables Alva Antoine (PC89) and Caleb Jallim (PC847) were heading home in a white Toyota Yaris (registration #PB4945) in a southerly direction when they collided with a light brown convertible BWM (registration #PG3711), driven by Alloysius Blasse of River Doree, Choiseul.

The accident occurred at about 8:20 a.m. and the BMW was heading north.

Blasse escaped unhurt however the officers were not so lucky. Antoine, who was the driver of the Yaris, reportedly sustained a broken leg/femur and other injuries while Jallim sustained facial/head injuries.

Both were transported to the Dennery Hospital which was re-opened yesterday.  Their condition is unknown at this time.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damages. The airbag in the BMW was deployed.
