Police sources have identified the body recovered just offshore the Pigeon Point beach (near Landings Resort) in Gros Islet on Sunday afternoon, August. 10.
Pathologist Dr. Stephen King pronounced 30-year-old Vaughn Khodra of Forestiere, Castries dead at 7:19 p.m. at the Rodney Bay Marina.
The Gros Islet Police Station received the report of a man missing at sea at about 4:28 p.m. The Marine Unit was then contacted.
Marine officers along with civilians proceeded to search for the body off the beach and yielded results at about 6:43 p.m. when the body was located very close to shore.
The body was then loaded on the Police Marint Unit boat and taken to the Rodney Bay Marina.
A friend of the deceased told St. Lucia News Online that Khodra was consuming alcohol before he went snorkelling.

Why are you people talking about people drinking rum to enjoy themselves? I drink rum but I drink cause I want to. I do not need to enjoy myself but this guy died regardless if he was drinking or not he died and that's the sad part. Forget the rum and just feel his family band friends pain. Do not judge people cause we have family members doing more. Rip to him and may his family find strength in God to deal with this

I'm of a strong belief that St.Lucia is under some sort of spell. We need to be praying more.
May his soul rest in peace.
So sad. May his soul rest in peace.A friend said he was drinking so why didn't someone stop him from going swimming or was everyone drinking and not thinking clearly. RIP
May your soul rest in eternal peace.
Why do St. Lucians feel the need to post all their dirty Laundry for the world to see.. This will lead to self destruction
Wow very sad my condolences to the khodra family
Let's all try to make smarter choices. Condolences to his family.
Drinking and driving = No no
Drinking and snorkeling = No no.
It is sad that the young man has moved on tto the great beyond. However, there are always lessons that some of us who feel we are invincible under the influence of "liquid spirits" Can learn from. And unfortunately this is another example.
One more thing, we cannot be surrounded by two bodies of water and nearly 99% of us cannot swim.
I believe in the coming years, the Government of this Nation MUST make swimming a priority at the schools to avert many lives who have been lost due to inability to swim etc.
May he rest in peace.u will surely b missed
With tears runnin down my face I can c ur smilin face.gone but will not b 4gotten
Deep sigh!! RIP Cuz! #gonetoosoon
It's not just the alcohol but more importantly, the amount consumed even though none is better than any at all. It is very important to know your limits and have control in anything one does.
Sad... May he rest in peace
people think they must drink alcohol to enjoy themselves
