Police Press Officer Aniel Innocent told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today, August 18, that other suspects are being pursued by the police.
Innocent said the stolen car was recovered and it is now lodge with the police until investigations are completed.
Reports are that four men approached a white car, PD2083, driven by Learie Ernest of Roblot, Choiseul, in the wee hours of Saturday morning in Piaye, near Anchor’s bar. The men forcefully took over the car from him.
Ernest was then beaten and forced into the backseat. The bandits took his phones and his bank account was demanded from him.
Ernest, who is now at home recovering from the ordeal, recalls that the hijackers planned to drown him at some beach.
According to Ernest, when the hijackers left to enter the ATM machine, he slipped out and ran into an alleyway and made his escape. After trekking through mud and bushes, he finally made it to the Vieux Fort Police Station where he made a report.
A full investigation was launched by the Laborie police.
