A search and rescue team has been dispatched to the Le Shalope Beach, near Grande Anse in Des Barras, Babonneau to locate the the body of a missing male who is suspected to have drowned.

Police Press Officer Aniel Innocent told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today that the team was unsuccessful yesterday and has been sent back to conduct another search.

Innocent said at about 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, officers at the Babonneau Police Station received a report of a suspected drowning at the beach.

Information received suggests that five males were fishing on the rocks near the said beach when 19-year-old Felix Ed David of Garrand allegedly fell into the sea and became submerged.

A search for David was immediately convened on Thursday and into Friday, November 7, 2014.  David is yet to be found.

  1. IN MY OPINION ALL FISHERMEN SHOULD HAVE A FLOAT, SOME ROPE AND BASIC FLOATING OR SWIMMING SKILLS.. AM I WRONG FOR SAYING THAT....??

  2. This is a place where a lot of people go fishing. They don't need or use a boat. They climb on the rocks and for those who don't know, this is a very dangerous place, many people have gotten drowned there and their bodies have never been found,so those friends that were there with him could have gotten drowned too if they had jumped in to try and save him

  3. Nicki, if you think you've got such a contribution to make, join the police and start solving some crimes.

Or you could offer your swimming services to the fisherman when they go out. Next time someone has an accident we know you will be there straight away to jump in and save them. Right Nicki???

Actually carry on typing crap on your keyboard, that's all you can do.

    • Bwigoo!!!Carlian I personally think Bwigo hold a big position in the sea. Bwigo might be a king or in some other high post. Anytime people go out looking for bwigo there is usually casualty or death. The waves are always protecting bwigo..... May his soul RIP.

    • Come on. Have some compassion for the family and his school mates who are in pain right now. He is a 15 year old student of the Gros Islet Secondary School. His father has his farm nearby. He and his cousins were on the rocks fishing for whelks when a huge wave hit him unexpectedly. He lost balance and fell into the water. This is the Atlantic side and the sea is always rough. His young cousins could not do anything about it but run to call for help. He is NOT a drug dealer and there was NO boat involved.
