Soca artiste Marley ‘Mongstar’ James has been discharged from Victoria Hospital, hours after a motor vehicle accident on the Barre d’Isle early this morning (July 12).
The soca star was discharged from the hospital around 5:45 p.m. with medication, said Carmy Joseph, vice president of DutchProductions/Stratosphere Muzic, in an interview with St. Lucia News Online this evening.
Joseph said all the scans – chest, pelvic and CT scan – done on Mongstar did not reveal anything serious. The artiste had complained about chest and neck pains.
When asked if Mongstar will be fit to participate in next weekend’s Soca Monarch competition, Joseph said it is too early to tell and the artiste’s team is currently focused on his recovery.
Mongstar is also scheduled to perform at an event in Corinth, Gros Islet tomorrow.
Reports are that at about 3 a.m., the vehicle in which Mongstar and three other persons were travelling, ran off the Barre d’Isle road and struck a utility pole.
Mongstar was on his way to Castries after performing at an event in Vieux Fort.
Another male occupant of the vehicle was also hospitalised with minor injuries.
