St. Lucia has picked up its third medal at the Carifta Games.
Marbeq Edgar, the fastest qualifier in the boys under-20 800m final with 1:53.19, snatched bronze with an improved time of 1:51.74 behind winner and defending champion, Mark London of Trinidad and Tobago (1:51.34).
Andre Colebrooke of the Bahamas finished second with 1:51.43.
This is also Edgar’s second medal of the Games following his silver-medal winning effort in the under-20 1500ms two days ago.
St. Lucia’s other medal came in the girls under-20 high jump earlier today when Jeanelle Scheper won the event in a new Carifta games record of 1.87m, breaking the record jointly held by St. Lucia’s Laverne Spence and Jamaica’s Peaches Roach.
