Ramco Castries was robbed this morning.
Ramco Plastics Ltd. in Castries was robbed this morning.

Three masked men armed with guns robbed Ramco Plastics Limited on Trinity Road, Castries of an undisclosed quantity of cash today (May 21) around 10:30 a.m.

One of the employees, who wished to remain anonymous, told Saint Lucia News Online (SNO) that the men came in and started demanding cash.

The female employee said one of bandits pulled out a gun tucked in the waistline of his pant and started threatening staff to give him all the cash that was in the cash register. The other two bandits were on the lookout.

The woman said she panicked and started running and screaming for help when that happened. She managed to lock herself inside of a washroom, and only came out after she was told by a colleague that the robbers left the premises.

According to her, the bandits managed to take the cash stored in a safe beneath the cash register, and at least $40 in coins that was left on the counter.

The Ramco employee said this is the second time she has encountered such as experience at Ramco. However, she considers Wednesday morning’s incident more serious. She noted that the first time the perpetrators took cash out of employees’ bags, while one of them threatened staff with a knife. No one was hurt.

When SNO visited the business premises, the door was closed and a police vehicle parked outside. People in the area told SNO they did not see what happened. A school is located opposite of that business.

Ramco Plastics is the producer of plastic packaging products such as manufacturers print/plain polyethylene bags, shopping, weighing, t-shirts, poultry, garbage, produce, clothes bags, coins, custom made bags and distributor of foam & take away products.

  1. You know what? Continue to blame yourself, blame the business, blame voleurs. Then just shout thief, thief or better yet wolf, wolf. We know what happened to the boy who kept on calling wolf in that story. Fools don't hold the people who are responsible for patrolling those areas and the ones who are responsible for them that we pay hefty sums to even 5% of our salary they want too. Don't ask of them about the results of their work yet still your boss on your back to produce better results in a sluggish economy. But to you you will get fired if you do not produce good results but to them no problem. Do Whats Right.

  4. That is a sad story. However the location of the business makes it more vulnerable. Though I would also like to say that this business has been in the habit of not giving the customers their monies worth. For instance the bags which should have 100, sometimes only have 89. What happened to the other 11 that I paid for. It happens all the time.
