A Guyanese man has succumbed after he was stabbed in Ciceron, Castries early Saturday morning.

Reports are that the victim, 34-year-old Cedolf Hunte, also known as ‘Body’, of Ciceron, was attacked by four masked men at around 2:40 whilst playing cards with friends in the community.

A stab wound under his right arm is believed to have resulted in his death.

An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that he saw when Hunte collapsed and fell on his back. The eyewitness said Hunte may have suffered a serious head injury based on how he fell.

The source said after Hunte fell the perpetrators ran, and a few residents gave chase.

Meanwhile, Hunte’s stepmother Rufina Francis told SNO that he was also robbed of cash. Francis said it is believed that two men known to the community may be responsible for his death.

She told SNO that Hunte was driving a van sometime late last year, which was robbed of goods. The owner of the van and Hunte, at the time, confronted the men who they believed were responsible.

Since then, the person who was allegedly responsible for the break-and-enter, had told people in Ciceron that he will stab Hunte.

Relatives have alleged that the suspect and another friend from La Toc may be responsible for the stabbing incident.

Francis described Hunte as a hardworking individual, who liked to keep to himself.

Hunte was a construction worker and had been living in St. Lucia for about seven years.

    • The real way to go is to stop breeding morons and criminals. CCTV is only as good as the monitoring of it. UK has a lot of CCTV and it still doesn't help in lots of cases.

  4. Those of u blaming a certain individual for Body's death need to stop yall crap....! Body asked the individual begged the individual to go out with him that night and the individual being the good friend that he is went along! Its unfortunate that he was stabbed whiles having fun....if yall want to blame someone blame the persons who killed him not the individual he went out with.....! Lucians too fast to cast judgement when they don't know the full story!!!!!! I also undersatnd his family and girlfriend are hurt but stop blaming the individual he went out with cuz its not his fault and yall just looking for people to put blame on instead of blaming the individuals who killed him! #ignorant

And yes we st Lucian are too quick to talk, Do you know every one in st Lucia who has a st Lucian ID card have to be finger printed before issuing a SLU ID card, Cedolf did nothing wrong he was helping a genuine friend locate his lost good, overseas there are a number of crimes happening every day and lost of he crimes a still unsolved and last but not lease most people in st lucia don't want to pay taxes for this property but yet they want all kind of CCTV and enforcement actions

    • Don't good people get murdered.I think it is the opposite. When a good person is murdered we tend to believe they were involve in some malpractice.

  6. Okay everybody talking about cameras so in and so forth... Hey its a good idea.. What about finger printing your citizens? What about gathering DNA... St Lucia has a forensic lab but what sense does it make when we don't have your citizens on file.. So st Lucia and the rest of the Caribbean is far off in solving crime... Why would ppl talk when the criminal is living next door and prison will only hold him for what? Maximum 2 yrs?

  8. Clive I fail to see the foolishness in David's comments, he is quite right. Government should do everything in their power to stop all these senseless killings that is rampant in our country right now. CCTV cameras works very well in other countries, so therefore I think we should invest in them as well.

    • "CCTV cameras works well in other countries"? What are you talking about? You want to come over to the UK, where there's like too many CCTV cameras and find out first hand that CCTV cameras isn't effective as most people think they are.
It's not just about having CCTV Cameras, it's about having them in the right place in which case who knows where the next crime will happen. It can merely be used as a deterrent.

      • @slurebel, since you don't think the cameras can play a critical role in crime fighting maybe we should hire some "precogs" similar to those from the movie Minority Report to alert police of the time and place of a crime that's about to happen. What do you think?
