Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old Morne Du Don man, whose body was found in Pigeon Point last week, died as a result of injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
Jamie Innocent’s body was discovered with his head covered in a sack and his feet bound in bushes on a hill in Pigeon Point on April 9, 2014.
A post mortem done on Innocent over the weekend revealed that he died from “hemorrhagic shock secondary to blunt force trauma,” according to Police Public Relations Officer Aniel Innocent.
A woman who was present when his body was found had told St. Lucia News Online that she saw the body of a black slim-built male about 9:30 a.m.
She said a blood-stained “white sack or crocus bag like those used to carry sand” covered his head. She said his black pants was below his knees.
“His feet was tied and he had on a black pants, a tie-dye (multi-coloured) shirt which was open,” she said.
Non-penetrating trauma or blunt force trauma refers to physical trauma caused to a body part, either by impact, injury or physical attack.
Further updates will be posted as soon as they become available.
