House destroyed by fire


A wooden house was destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning at Maynard Hill, Castries.

St. Lucia News Online (SNO) understands that the incident occurred at about 10 a.m.

Reports are that a man of unsound mind resides there. However, he was not at home at the time of the incident.

While two fire engines were initially sent to the scene, only one showed up. The other fire engine was involved in an accident.

Nevertheless, the one fire engine which responded, managed to put out the blaze. However, by this time the wooden structure was already destroyed.

A dog and two other animals that were tied close to the house were freed by the firefighters.

No injuries were reported.
