High jumper Jeanelle Scheper gave St. Lucia its first gold medal at the Carifta Games in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Scheper won the girls under-20 high jump with a record height of 1.87m.

She erased the 1.86 set by country woman Laverne Spencer and Peaches Roach of Jamaica.
