The two Dominicans, who were arrested in connection with a large drug seizure in the south of the island last Friday at 9 p.m., have been officially charged.
On Monday, March 18, 2013, Alex James, 39, and Rawlins Rolle, 33, fishermen from Roseau, Dominica, appeared before the Second District Court to answer to the charges of possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.
According the St. Lucia police, officers attached to the Marine Unit of the southern division intercepted a blue, orange and black boat named “Von Von,” 8.2 nautical miles south of Gros Piton, Soufriere in the island’s territorial waters.
The boat was searched and 1,487.2 pounds of cannabis were found.
James and Rolle, who were aboard the vessel, were arrested and taken into custody.
The drugs were seized by police.
Both men have been remanded in custody at Bordelais Correctional Facility until Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
