Dominic Fedee is the regional public relations manager at Sandals Resorts

Dominic Fedee has won the first round of a contest to represent the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) in the General Elections as a candidate for Anse La Raye/Canaries.

Fedee, regional public relations manager at Sandals Resorts, captured 50 of the 85 votes cast on Thursday evening at the Jacmel Community Centre.

Hermangild Francis got 34 votes and Amatus Edwards got none. One ballot was spoiled. Leslie Mondesir was a no-show.

Reports are that the men were expected to each make a presentation to the financial members of the UWP minute, followed by a secret ballot.

The UWP’s National Council is the next step to confirm the candidate for the Anse La Raye/Canaries seat.

Former Member of Parliament for Anse La Raye/Canaries, Dr. Keith Mondesir had indicated that he would not be interested in contesting the  seat in the next elections.

Mondesir was defeated by Dr. Desmond Long of the ruling St. Lucia Labour Party in the 2011 General Elections.

  1. You always set your sights high and you had an eye for politics from in your 20s well done you. It isn't about where you were born or your parents heritage its about what's in your heart and Dominic has St.Lucia within his heart. He stands for fairness and equal opportunities for all. He is a good listener and no matter where your roots are you should aspire to do well in life. Is that not what all St.Lucians want for there economy? If Dominic stands by his principles he is good to represent all St.Lucians.

  2. Why do we need a sandals mouth piece to represent anse la raye or canaries? Sandals has taken advantage of their staff for years. If Dominic can convince Butch Stewart to have union for the employees of sandals then we will think about having him represent our community.

  3. really st.lucians

That's the best we can do? Have a guyanese represent us? We know our own people's needs. Where are all the educated st.lucians? We produced 2 Nobel laureates but now have to turn to a guyanese to make up our rules? If he wants to be in politics so much why can't he go to Guyana and do it since Guyana is in a mess. Go clean up your country before you tell st.lucians what you can do for them.

  5. I am annoyed that a guyanese who never went to school in st.lucia can run for political office. St.lucia cannot produce anything better. Dominic is just a smooth talker....beware st.lucia.

  10. Dominic, I thought you had more sense than this.

Why would you join a party without any sense of direction?

    What is yous motive, Dominic?

Do you really want to serve or since you've seen how derelict the other members of UWP are, that you can easily jump over them for political fame?

I will sit back and see what happens 🙂

  12. I don't know why Amatus should embarrass himself so. Nobody likes you dude. I'm from Anse-La-Raye and you will never get my vote. Now ask for Dominic. Where he from? Nobody from Anse-la-Raye knows you. You all think people stupid in Anse-La-Raye that we will just vote for anyone. We want people we know ok. You all will just cause SLP to take that seat again.choops

  15. Since we are looking for honesty in politics, Dominic is coming from a company that already issues lie detector test to employees for not apparent reason, and even when they pass they are still dismiss due to association .....how about he introduce such stringent measures to the political arena because God knows we need some of that in both parties

  25. Dominique is a highly respectable young .man. he is a people's guy and knows how to care for people. No doubt he can bring some economic development to the community. The other guys can do just as much as good job. As for Keith Mondesir he represented well. He should not be angry that the party is looking for new blood. All the best may the best man win
