Police have released the name of an elderly man found dead close to the Canaries beach Saturday afternoon.

The body of 69-year-old Felix Shepherd of Riverside Road was discovered at about 3:45 p.m. at the bottom of a precipice, metres away from the Canaries shoreline.

Police said his death is being treated as “suspicious” but have not released any further information.
