UPDATED: Identity of Anse Ger teen who allegedly drank poison released

Police have confirmed the identity of a 17-year-old male who committed suspected suicide on Wednesday.

Police said Jarvanni Burtfield of Anse Ger, Desruisseaux died at hospital at midday yesterday after allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance at his home.

According to a police press release, officers from the Micoud Police Station were called to the residence of Elizabeth Felix of Anse Ger, Desruisseaux on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 about 10:30 am.

Upon arrival, police received information that Burtfield had allegedly ingested a harmful substance and subsequently collapsed.

He was transported to St. Jude’s Hospital where he was admitted and treated.  He died at about 12:24 p.m.

Police said a post mortem is scheduled for a later date and investigations are ongoing.

  1. im his cousin and he died cause he thought hes mother and that didnt love him he drank the thing that kills grass R.I.P Jervaine we all miss you already watch over us starh.

  2. Just curious was it in a beer, guinness, ju-c or malt bottle and drank it thinking the content was a drink? I hope it was an accident and not a deliberate act may he RIP to his family my heartfelt condolences.

  3. woww! whats going on in St.Lucia. I just came back from there yesterday and its another death! What would cause a 17 year old to drink a poisonous substance to kill himself. We need to look at our your people very closely than very, sometimes the problems are hiding in plain sight!
