Officers received information that a black dirt bike, registration number unknown, was travelling along the Gesneau road in the direction of Castries. That motorcycle then collided into a stationary truck, registration number TE 3168, which was on the left side of the road. The said vehicle is owned by Cecilus Remy.
At the time of the accident there were two individuals on the motorcycle, both of whom are from Bagatelle, Castries. They were 30-year-old Bertrum Paul, who was the driver, and his pillion rider 18-year-old Melvin Shervon Gustave.
As a result of the injuries sustained, both individuals were transported to the Victoria Hospital via ambulance. Paul was pronounced dead on arrival whereas Melvin Shervon Gustave was treated and admitted in a critical condition.
A post mortem is scheduled for a later date to determine the cause of death for Paul.
An investigation continues into the matter.

Majority of accidents are PREVENTABLE. If he was riding at a slower rate of speed, do you think this would have happened? Chances are- NO. Like someone said, those guys on bikes pass vehicles any & everywhere. You riders are NOT as good as you think you are. SLOW DOWN !! It only takes a small stone, a little misjudge of something for you to fall and injury yourself or fall and kill yourself and others.
