At least four persons including a prominent local attorney were rushed to Victoria Hospital last evening following a vehicular accident in Beasejour, Gros Islet.
Martinus Francois, a well-known human rights attorney, was the driver of a white Subaru car, registration number PK5872, which collided with a Mitsubishi Colt, registration number PG6530, near the Phase 1 gap at close to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4.
Allegations are that Francois’ vehicle settled in a gutter after it hit the Mitsubushi and broke a wooden electricity pole.
Unconfirmed reports are that a pedestrian was also injured in the accident.
Francois and three other persons were in the Subaru car. One of the occupants – Francis Raymond of Marigot – was unconscious when the ambulance removed him from the scene. He reportedly sustained neck and face injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.
The other persons involved in the accident sustained minor injuries. Francois was also brought to hospital for medical assessment but sources say he did not appear to have had any physical injuries.
St. Lucia News Online had been trying to get more details of the accident since last night but was given the run-around by various agencies.
Francois is the brother of Police Commissioner Vernon Francois.
