Fast bowler Keemo Paul is stretchered from the field after picking up a muscle injury early in Monday’s third day of the third Test against England.

GROS ISLET, St Lucia, Feb 11, CMC – Batsman Darren Bravo has been cleared of serious injury but fast bowler Keemo Paul is expected to take no further part in the England innings, after being diagnosed with a torn right quadricep.

Bravo did not field on Monday’s third day of the third Test after picking up a finger injury the previous day while Paul sent down two overs before being stretchered from the field, after pulling up while chasing a ball in the outfield.

Both players subsequently underwent scans, with the Windies camp confirming afterwards that Paul would be unlikely to bowl or field again in the match.

Bravo, however, is expected to play a key role when West Indies bat in their second innings, especially with England’s lead of 448 already representing a record run chase in Tests.

Only last month, the left-hander returned following a 27-month break from the longest format, when he suited up for the opening Test in Bridgetown.

He made a crucial even fifty in the last Test in Antigua to lay the foundation for West Indies’ 10-wicket victory and their first series win over England in a decade.

Paul, meanwhile, is playing his first Test of the series after being drafted in to replace suspended skipper Jason Holder.

The 20-year-old took two wickets in the first innings and one in the second – off the first ball of the morning on Monday when he had left-hander Rory Burns caught at square leg before England had added to their overnight 19 without loss.

England, with a lead of 123 on first innings, ended the day on 325 for four, with captain Joe Root unbeaten on 111.
