(PRESS RELEASE) — The Saint Lucia Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) females were the proud recipients of football boots donated by Boulter Bowen Wealth Care in Exeter, England.

Affectionately known by some of the female players as Mo and Simon, the directors of Boulter Bowden Wealth Care were first introduced to female rugby in Saint Lucia by national players Marline Chery and Lioanna “Mindy’ Alexander.

When Mo and Simon researched the team’s latest accomplishments they were astounded and realized the enormous potential of the team. They were surprised to learn that some of the players did not have proper boots to train.

Accomplishments include:

• 1st in the 4th Bouclier Monique Ribeaut Women 7s Invitational Tournament in Guadeloupe in 2018.
• 1st in the 3rd Trophée Atlantique Feminin Rugby 7s in Martinique in 2018
• 4th in the Rugby Americas North Rugby 7s tournament in 2018
• 3rd in the open division in the Barbados World Rugby 7s in 2018
• The 2018 National Sports Awards the Female National Rugby 7s team was awarded “Team of The Year”.

The donation of the boots to the team was well received by the players and the SLRFU executive.

The SLRFU females will first get a chance to strut their new attire at the 5th Annual Bouclier Monique Ribeaut Female Tournament in Guadeloupe on May 11, 2019. This year, the SLRFU will be sending two teams to this tournament. The SLRFU females are the current title holders.

In July 2019, Rugby Americas North (RAN) 7s Olympic qualifier will take place in the Cayman Islands. This donation will go a long way to assist the team in their quest for Olympic glory.

The SLRFU executive is very grateful for the donation by Boulter Bowen Wealth Care of Exeter, England. The SLRFU is indeed pleased that a member of the international business community supports the SLRFU female rugby 7s team as they vie for a place in the 2020 Olympics.
