The mother of 31-year-old Samuel Khodra and 20-year-old Daniel Khodra, two of four men charged today, July 16 for the homicide of 35-year-old Yulanda Frederick of La Clery, Castries, claims that her sons are innocent.
The woman did not disclose her name, but told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that there is no evidence to prove that they are guilty.
However, both brothers, and two other men, were additionally charged for unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
She claims that her sons were in no way involved in the homicide and was likely set up. She said both men are not known to be criminals.
Reports are that the four men were selected during a police identification parade by an eyewitness to the homicide.
‘They can say what they want, but my children innocent,” she added.
She said initially all four of her sons were arrested, including the youngest who is 17 years old. However, only two of them were charged.
“People are saying that it’s them but they have to get evidence. Let God do his work.”
She said the person responsible for the crime is roaming the Leslie Land area and they have not made any attempts to arrest him.
According to the mother, residents know what is going on in Leslie Land and advised the police to do their work more effectively. She said besides those responsible for Fredrick’s death, the area is known to have criminal elements yet the police cannot put their hands on the right criminals.
The mother of four told SNO that she will ensure that justice is served in her sons’ cases and she is praying that the truth comes out so that both of her sons are freed.
