Police told media that the deceased was found by a passerby at about 2:30 p.m. and appeared to have been covered.
The public’s assistance is being sought to determine the identity of the man whose body had already begun decomposing, police said.
A foul stench was said to have been emanating from his body at the time of the discovery.
This is the second body being discovered on the island in under a week. On April 9, 2014, Jamie Innocent’s body was discovered with his head covered in a sack and his feet bound in bushes on a hill in Pigeon Point. Post mortem results revealed that he died as a result of “hemorrhagic shock secondary to blunt force trauma.
