PRESS RELEASE – Musicians play a vital role in all aspects of our lives. They provide entertainment which helps us debrief from the stresses of life. Many of their lyrics have inspired or supported positive changes in our societies such as the civil rights movement. The industry created by musicians is a source of significant economic activity and employment for people all over the world.
Belle Vue, Vieux-Fort is a community which has realized the aforementioned benefits of music on its residents. The community of Belle Vue has a long tradition of producing many folk and contemporary music bands. Belle Vue is the home of renowned folk violinist and cultural king of Saint Lucia, Joseph ‘Rameau’ Poleon. It has also given Saint Lucia, Mr. Gregory Sinaise who is the reigning king of creole singing in Saint Lucia. Avot Sevis and Wanjman, two of the premier folk bands of Saint Lucia hail from Belle Vue.
Considering the positive impact music has on Belle Vue, the Belle Vue Development Committee is hosting a grand fund raising barbeque to commemorate St. Cecilia’s Day, on the grounds of the Belle Vue Human Resource Development Centre on Saturday, the 22nd of November, 2014 from 5:00 pm.
All proceeds from this event will go towards the hosting of the second annual Christmas Lunch for the Elderly in the community on the 21st of December, 2014. In addition to the sale of fish, pork and chicken barbeque dishes, the audience will be entertained by the sensational Avot Sevis and Mr. Gregory Sinaise, Saint Lucia’s creole singing king.
Thus, the development committee invites all to be a part of this massive celebration aimed at recognizing the contributions of our musicians and supporting a worthy cause.
