(SNO) — The 2019 edition of the Massy United Insurance secondary schools cricket tournament got underway on Thursday, February 14 with three matches.

At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Babonneau Secondary defeated Castries Comprehensive Secondary by nine wickets. Castries Comprehensive made just 51 in 25 overs; Osric Antione, 19 not out.

Bowling for Babonneau, Caleb Thomas took three for eight in six overs; Bolton Sayers, two for three in four overs; Yannick Noel, two for seven in three overs, and captain, West Indies player Kimani Melius, two for 12 in six overs.

Set a modest victory target of 52, Babonneau Secondary finished on 52 for one in 12 overs. Bolton Sayers led the run chase with 12 not out and Kimani Melius undefeated on five.

At the Balata Playing Field, Ciceron Secondary completed a comfortable five-wicket victory over Vide Boutielle Secondary. Vide Boutielle made 139 all out in 28 overs. Noah Emmanus top-scoring with 45 and Markel St Rose, 25.

Noelle Leo took two for 13; Ismael Clement, two for 14; Kiwayne John, two for 30, and Marlon Paul, two for 38.

In reply, Ciceron easily got to the total finishing on 143 for 5 in 24 overs. Captain Noelle Leo led the charge with an attacking knock of 52, which included one four and five sixes. Brothers Marlon and Kensely Paul made 12 not out each and Kiwayne John, 10.

At the Piaye Playing Field, Entrepot Secondary won over Micoud Secondary by 41 runs. Entrepot made 158 all out in 30.5 overs, Denzel Roberts top-scoring with 42 and Ephron Charles, 31.

Bowling for Micoud, Dekeige Henry took three for 29; Marklin Estaphine, two for nine, and Jerlan Justin, two for 27.

In response, Micoud Secondary was dismissed for 117 in 25.4 overs with Neon Deterville making 25. The main wicket takers for Entrepot Secondary were Jaden Lafeuille with four for 28, and Royce Paul, three for 19.
